Every single day of each year , HP collects unsatisfied clients from other manufacturers and the others do the same with HP's clients. In most cases VueScan doesn't need a driver from HP.

Now scanner is half the m\c it was and Printer won't share across network.Never thought to check fault forums before parting with hard earned cash and YES if I do re-equip VueScan keeps my HP scanner operating with each new Mac OS version that comes around. Open Irfan view and under the File tab choose "Select Twain Source" and then select WIA-Hewlett-Packard Scanjet 4400c 1.0 (it was also there "HP Precisionscan Pro 3.13.0 " which I didn't Why should I throw it away or getting crazy to make it working through past Windows emulations?
In these times where green companies are thriving I see your less than green practices of creating unnecessary amounts of wasted trash a quick path to your inevitable demise. As a result my $200 HP ScanJet 4980 has been reduced to a $50 scanner. Windows XP was perfect for my modest needs . A 10 year old scanner is like a car that needs leaded gasoline. Download VueScan and start scanning again in 60 seconds. Was surprised I could not load my old HP 4600 scanner software (it ran under XP and this windows version was supposed to support XP software).
